Officials in Venezuela say an oil refinery explosion in the northwestern part of the country has killed seven people and injured 48 others.
The blast hit the Amuay oil refinery in the early hours of Saturday.
Officials of the OPEC member nation said there was significant damage to infrastructure and houses near the refinery, but the situation was under control several hours after the explosion.
Venezuela's Amuay facility is part of the Paraguana Refining Center - one of the biggest refinery complexes in the world.
