Double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah has revealed that his wife has given birth to twin girls.
Speaking in Birmingham where he is taking part in his first competitive race since his London 2012 heroics, Farah told Sky News that the news is "very exciting".
Asked if he was going to be sprinting back to his family, the dedicated sportsman - who is a twin himself - said: "No, no, no! I’ve got a race tomorrow!"
However, he said he was present when his wife, Tania, gave birth on Friday. The 29-year-old is already step-father to his wife's daughter, Rihanna.
A heavily-pregnant Mrs Farah was a regular sight during the Games, cheering her husband on at the Olympic Stadium before celebrating with him on the track after his 10,000m and 5,000m triumphs.
He said: "My wife has been holding on so long and it's great that she held on this long and didn't give birth on the track (at the Olympics)."
Asked to compare fatherhood to winning Olympic gold, he said: "It's completely different. It's out of your control, it was weird, but as a father I'm very proud. To have three kids in the family is going to be exciting.
"If my wife has another two more twins boys I'll be a happy man. It runs in the family, so maybe that's why we're having twins."
They have yet to decide on names, but he planned to get their names inscribed onto the medals once they have.
"Whatever one was born first gets the 10,000m and the other gets the 5,000m one," he added.
Meanwhile, Farah confirmed his intention to compete at the 2016 Olympics in Rio - although that could possibly be as a marathon runner rather than on the track.
He told Sky News: "I'm definitely going to step up to marathon, but not yet. Everything's going well now and I'll probably have another year or so on the track before going in that direction.
"I want to go there (to Rio) and I want to compete - but I don't know in what event."
