Olympics: London Bus Parade For Team GB

Britain's most successful Olympic team in more than a century is being invited to take part in an open-top bus parade through London on September 10.

The date will be the day after the closing ceremony for the Paralympics and all athletes are welcome, says the British Olympic Association..

The parade will start at Mansion House and then travel to the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace with the exact route not yet set out.

"It will be a parade of both Olympic and Paralympic athletes and we're working with the Mayor's office, Transport for London, the park authorities and various boroughs," said the BOA.

Britain has so far won 22 golds and 48 medals in total, the host nation's best haul since 1908.

Meanwhile, the London 2012 organisers have revealed the Games' closing ceremony on Sunday is to be a "Symphony of British Music" with more than 4,000 performers taking part.

The ceremony will start at 9pm and include some of the country's most successful musicians.

While secrecy still surrounds who will be taking part, one confirmed is George Michael who has already tweeted that he is nervous about the event.

When asked if it was a secret, he said: "It's been all over the press for weeks, and I think you all needed to be put out of your misery!"
