Ed McKeever has won Britain's first medal of the day in the men's kayak sprint at Eton Dorney.
He powered to victory in the men's K1 200 in front of thousands of screaming fans to take the first gold awarded in the new shorter distance.
McKeever, who won two world cups this year and was the fastest qualifier in the heats, led from start to finish.
Spain's Saul Craviotto Rivero took the silver and Canada's Mark de Jonge the bronze.
